After returning from Genkai's training, Yusuke discovers that the four Saint Beats have seized control of the city using Makai insects that impair standardized functions. Koenma instructs Yusuke to find and destroy the four Saint Beats in order to save the inhabitants of the city. Yusuke and Kuwabara enter the beats' territory through a portal. They are aided by their previous adversaries, Kurama and Hiei, who were offered pardons for their past crimes in exchange for their assistance. Upon entering the castle, the ceiling descends, giving the opportunity for only one of the quartet to escape.
